Cricket and Pakistanis

The world could turn upside down but Pakistanis would always find time and ways to watch Cricket. Whether it is an old dhaba or a luxurious hotel you can always spot a TV screen somewhere in days of prime Cricket. Cricket which most Americans know only to be an insect is what keeps us happy. It is what keep us united. You miss an important match? Be ready to feel left out in all conversations in your school/college and over the internet.

The National game might be Hockey but it is Cricket matches that we look forward too. (Hockey should be promoted more, man! )

Cricket players are so famous now that you can spot them in every other advertisement on TV….gets kinda too-much after a while. There’s a constant battle between Afridi’s lovers and haters. A movie based on him is releasing on Eid so I guess lovers win!

Spot some sad faces? Pakistan probably lost to India last night. Yes PakvsInd matches are the most awaited, the most watched. We might be friendly neighbors now but on Cricket ground it’s win or die. We don’t die for long though, revenge bhi to lena hot hai na!

Win a World Cup? The celebration is to die for. You spot dancers on the street, patriotic songs blaring on stereos and big smiles on every face you see. Nothing like that feeling. Aaah..it’s been a long time!

Gotta go now, a match is in progress.

Let’s savor today!

Let me think of something new,
something fresh like morning dew.
I walk the usual path each day,
let me choose a new way today.
Every morning sun appears the same,
let’s make it a little brighter today.
The moon and stars are ever shining,
my life could do with a little brightening.
The cool breeze is sweeping by,
why don’t I drift with it tonight.

I walk, I talk, I work each day.
Let’s dance, let’s smile, let’s savor today.
